A minor who had been reported missing while riding a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) in the sea off Heraklion, Crete, has been found safe, according to the Greek Coast Guard.
The minor, who is a foreign national, was located safely and is being taken to the Moires Health Center as a precaution, the Coast Guard said.
Extensive search-and-rescue operation
A broad search-and-rescue operation was launched to locate the missing minor, coordinated by Greece’s Joint Rescue Coordination Center.
Coast Guard vessels took part in the search alongside a ship and an unmanned aerial vehicle operated by Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.
A professional tourist boat and private vessels also participated in the operation.
