Naxos Graviera, a well-known Greek cheese from the Cyclades islands, has been crowned the best cheese in the world for 2025/26 by the global food-ranking platform TasteAtlas.
The announcement was made through TasteAtlas’s official Instagram account, where the platform praised the cheese as a hallmark product of the island of Naxos. Produced primarily from local cow’s milk, with small additions of sheep or goat milk, Naxos Graviera has been crafted on the island since the early 1900s.
TasteAtlas noted that its ranking system is based on verified user reviews from people who have actually tasted the products. According to the platform, algorithms are used to filter out bot activity and coordinated voting groups to ensure reliable and transparent results.
The cheese’s distinctive character comes from its traditional aging process, which lasts several months and creates a firm texture and mild, balanced flavor typical of Cycladic cheeses. The recognition places Naxos Graviera at the top of the global cheese scene for the coming year, further cementing its reputation as one of Greece’s most celebrated dairy products.
