Greek authorities are continuing their investigation into the murder of a 75-year-old woman in Salamina, with her 46-year-old daughter-in-law in custody for the crime. New details have emerged about the case, including the accused’s statements and changes in the home’s security camera footage.

During a recent interrogation, the suspect suggested that others may have been aware of her actions, raising questions about possible accomplices in the fatal incident. However, she denied protecting anyone involved and pleaded for the children of her husband to remain uninvolved.

“I remember up to the point where I parked next to my mother-in-law’s house. I was sitting in the car, thinking about what I was about to do. I wanted to commit a robbery. What happened after that, I don’t remember,” the accused told investigators. “I’m not covering for anyone… I did it alone.”

The investigation revealed that the security camera inside the house had been moved multiple times on the night of the murder—at 1:09 a.m., 1:14 a.m., and 2:02 a.m.—before being restored the following morning at 11:00 a.m. The defense has requested a review of who controlled the cameras and verification of the voices captured on the recordings.

An anonymous tip also surfaced, implicating a third party in assisting the 46-year-old. A police source reported that on November 5, authorities received information about an individual, identified as a Roma man using a specific phone number, allegedly involved in the crime.

For over three weeks before confessing, the accused reportedly maintained a façade of anger and normalcy. The victim’s daughter recounted discovering the body, describing a scene of disarray and blood:

“I went to her room and saw everything overturned. At first, I didn’t see my mother, only a pool of blood. Then I noticed her wrapped in sheets and blankets… her head was covered in blood. I screamed for help and called 100 [emergency services],” she said.

The 46-year-old suspect remains in pretrial detention while investigators continue to examine every aspect of the case, aiming to clarify the full sequence of events and determine whether others were involved.
