A newborn baby died just hours after being born, plunging a family on the Greek island of Rhodes into mourning. According to available information, the infant showed acute respiratory distress immediately after birth at a local hospital, prompting doctors to order an urgent transfer for specialized care.
Medical authorities deemed the situation critical, and an emergency operation was launched to transport the baby to Crete. The infant was airlifted by a Super Puma helicopter to the city of Heraklion, where an ambulance took the newborn to Venizeleio Hospital, one of the region’s major medical facilities.
Despite the rapid response and the efforts of doctors and nursing staff, the baby did not survive. No further details have been released regarding the underlying cause of the respiratory complications.
