Newspaper Sales in Greece Drop 11.7% in 2025: ELSTAT

The general trend of a declining interest in print is a global phenomenon, with Greece being no exception. According to an annual survey published by the country’s statistical authority, ELSTAT, a 11.7% drop was observed in the total sales of newspapers of all categories in Greece for 2025, compared with 2024.

In 2024, compared to 2023, a 12.4% decrease was observed in the total sales of newspapers. The data revealed a similar downward trend regarding the aggregate sales of magazines across all content for 2025. It also recorded an 8.8% decline compared with 2024. The only category that resisted this drop was women’s interest magazines.

In 2024, a 14.9% decrease was observed in the total sales of magazines, compared with the previous year. In the categories with the highest sales volume in the year 2025, the most significant changes in absolute numbers are observed in the sales of TV magazines and children’s magazines, which recorded a decrease of 9.6% and 17.1%, respectively.
