Authorities have dismantled a criminal network involved in the illegal trafficking of slimming pills and doping substances, and arrested the alleged leader of the organization.
The 59-year-old pharmacist behind the scheme had reportedly transformed the basement of his pharmacy into a production facility for the illegal substances.
The group is estimated to have generated a turnover exceeding €1 million, carrying out approximately 15,000 shipments across Greece and to 90 countries abroad.
The network sold its products through online platforms, marketing them as dietary supplements while no proper checks were conducted on the substances they contained.
The pharmacist is also reported to have employed 13 biologists to assist in the preparation and production of the formulations.
According to information, 14 individuals have been arrested, while authorities have seized 40,000 units of pharmaceutical products, 13 kilograms of raw materials, and €47,000 in cash.
