The search for a missing 16-year-old girl known as Laura has taken a new turn after Greek police confirmed she left the country for Germany, while German authorities have now issued a missing alert.

According to police, Laura’s disappearance initially triggered a large search operation in Athens neighborhoods. However, an airline informed authorities in writing that the teenager had boarded a flight to Frankfurt on January 8.

Witness accounts place her in Germany

A fellow passenger told Greek broadcaster MEGA that Laura was not alone during her trip. The witness said she appeared to be traveling with a young man believed to be around 25 years old. It remains unclear whether they knew each other beforehand or met at the airport.

The same witness reported seeing Laura later on a train in Frankfurt, where the two were speaking German and appeared to be in conversation.

Family background under scrutiny

Media reports say Laura’s family had lived in a suburb of Hamburg until a few years ago before moving to Greece. During their time in Germany, Laura reportedly faced difficulties at school, with one neighbor recalling hearing about possible bullying, though the claim could not be independently confirmed.

Her father later bought a home in the Rio area of Greece for €290,000 without immediately selling the family’s property in Germany. Some former neighbors described him as asking a high price for the German home.

Another former neighbor in Hamburg said the family lived in relative isolation. She described Laura’s father as fearful and said he kept a large guard dog. According to her, he often appeared worried, though the reasons were unclear.

Investigation ongoing

Laura’s father remains in Greece and has said he has no new information about his daughter’s whereabouts.

With German authorities now involved and a missing alert issued, the investigation has become cross-border. Officials have not released further details about Laura’s current location or the identity of the man seen traveling with her.

The case remains open as authorities continue efforts to locate the teenager.
