The Greek National Meteorological Service (EMY) has issued an urgent weather bulletin, warning of intense rainfall and thunderstorms beginning in the early hours of Tuesday, Jan. 6, (Epiphany), and continuing through Thursday morning, Jan. 8. The alert covers most areas in western and northeastern Greece.
Authorities caution that the expected rainfall will not only be heavy but also prolonged. In many areas, the severe weather may be accompanied by localized hail and strong winds reaching 8 to 9 on the Beaufort scale.

Tuesday, Jan. 6:
• Ionian Islands: Primarily Corfu, Lefkada, and Kefalonia
• Epirus: Especially the regional units of Thesprotia, Preveza, western Arta, and western Ioannina
• Western Sterea: Mainly Aetolia-Acarnania
• Eastern Macedonia and Thrace: From the afternoon onward (orange alert)
Wednesday, Jan. 7:
• Ionian Islands: Corfu, Lefkada, Kefalonia
• Epirus: Thesprotia, Preveza, Ioannina, Arta
• Western Sterea: Aetolia-Acarnania
• Western and Southern Peloponnese: From late afternoon through late night (orange alert)
• Eastern Macedonia and Thrace: Until late night (orange alert)
By Thursday morning, the intensity of these phenomena is expected to gradually decrease. However, unsettled conditions will persist across much of the country, with varying local characteristics.
