A series of boating accidents has occurred over the past three days. In Eretria, on the island of Evia, two people were injured when a speedboat collided with an anchored sailboat, while near the islet of Fleves in the Saronic Gulf, the Coast Guard launched an operation to rescue four tourists whose inflatable boat had been swept away by strong winds.
The force of the collision in Eretria Sunday night is evident from the condition of the speedboat, which struck an anchored sailboat at speed.
Four Serbian tourists were aboard the speedboat. Two suffered head injuries and were taken by ambulance to Chalkida General Hospital.
It was just one of a series of maritime incidents that the Coast Guard has responded to over the past two days.

Near the islet of Fleves, a rescue operation was launched around Saturday midday for four tourists from Romania.
According to available information, the tourists had traveled to the area in an inflatable boat equipped only with oars and no motor to go swimming. The boat was swept away by sea currents and strong winds, prompting a Coast Guard patrol vessel to intervene. The four tourists were picked up and taken safely to Vouliagmeni Marina.
In the Ammoglossa area of Drepano, in Achaia in the western Peloponnese, a 20-meter yacht ran aground in shallow water.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and efforts to tow the vessel began shortly afterward.
A commercial tourist boat struck moored sailboats at the Aegina Nautical Club yesterday, causing property damage. According to the local port authority, no injuries were reported and no water was found to be entering the vessels.
The strong seasonal meltemi winds, which made conditions difficult for boat operators, also put the legendary Skopelitis to the test. But once again over the past two days, the vessel lived up to its reputation for skilled seamanship, managing to continue serving residents and visitors across the Small Cyclades despite the challenging conditions.
