Greek police have dismantled an organized burglary ring in Thessaloniki accused of carrying out a series of home break-ins with a total estimated haul exceeding €585,000.
The investigation by officers from the White Tower Crime Investigation Department led to the arrest of two members of the group, aged 36 and 24, both from Georgia. Police also identified a 39-year-old accomplice who is wanted, while investigations continue to determine whether other people were involved.
The suspects were arrested after the 36-year-old was caught breaking into an apartment in central Thessaloniki, where he stole jewelry, silver items and coins worth around €55,000. The 24-year-old was later arrested and is accused of acting as a lookout outside the building.
Burglary method
According to the police investigation, the group had been active since at least December 2025 and followed a specific method when targeting homes.
Authorities said the suspects selected properties with security locks they knew how to bypass, monitored residents’ movements to ensure the homes were empty and used a lookout to warn them of potential risks during the burglaries.
Police said the group used specialized burglary equipment and left behind few traces.
More cases solved and extensive equipment seized
In addition to the burglary that led to the arrests, investigators solved eight more cases involving homes. The stolen goods included jewelry, valuables and other precious items worth more than €531,360, along with over €54,000 in cash.
During searches of the suspects’ homes, police seized a large amount of equipment allegedly used in burglaries, including 253 keys, seven master keys, a magnetic tool for opening locks, 17 door bypass cards, a portable radio, a diamond detector and tools such as a drill, grinder, sledgehammer and crowbar.
Authorities also confiscated branded clothing and accessories, as well as cash in euros, British pounds and US dollars.
The two arrested suspects were taken before prosecutors, while police continue searching for the third member and any possible additional accomplices.
