Thessaloniki’s metro line will resume operation on Monday after nearly a month of interrupted service due to stepped technical checks and evaluations. The latter were deemed as necessary for the commencement of a line expansion east towards the Kalamaria municipality.
The decision was announced on Friday.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Panepistimio and Syntagma stations in central Athens will close on Saturday, the first after 9 a.m. and the second at 11 a.m. following a decision by Greek Police (EL.AS).
Saturday, Dec. 6, coincides with the 17th anniversary of teen Alexandros Grigoropoulos’ shooting by a police guard in the nearby Exarchia district. Several protests and rallies have been announced for the day in central Athens.
