Thief Breaks Into Store Using Manhole Cover

A security camera captured the unusual burglary at a nail care store in the Athens area, where the suspect used a lifted street manhole cover to force open the entrance.

A thief broke into a store in Nikaia, near Athens, using a manhole cover to force open the entrance, in an incident that has raised concern among local business owners.

The burglary took place at a nail care store and was recorded by the shop’s security camera, according to a report by Greek television channel ANT1.

The footage shows the suspect initially sitting on the sidewalk outside the business. After checking that there was no movement on the street, he lifted a manhole cover and used it to break into the store.

Once inside, the thief took around €50 from the cash register as well as an employee’s wallet that had accidentally been left at the store from the previous day.

The store owner said this was the third time the business had been targeted by burglars, increasing feelings of insecurity among residents and professionals in the Nikaia area.
