Greek authorities have arrested two people following a major anti-drug operation targeting an alleged cocaine and MDMA trafficking network in the wider Athens region.
The operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Division of Greece’s Organized Crime Unit after what police described as a months-long investigation into the group’s activities.
According to police, a 47-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were arrested during a coordinated raid conducted on Thursday afternoon in the Attica region. Authorities are continuing their search for a third suspect believed to be connected to the case.
Hidden Compartments Used to Store Drugs
Investigators said the suspects had established an organized network focused on the storage, concealment and distribution of illegal narcotics.
During searches of homes and a vehicle linked to the suspects, officers discovered specially modified hidden compartments used to store drugs.
Police seized 99 packages of cocaine with a total weight of 341.55 grams, as well as 69 packages of MDMA weighing 164.25 grams in total.
Cash, Cars and Equipment Confiscated
Authorities also confiscated two vehicles, €11,840 in cash, two digital precision scales, nine mobile phones and a large number of plastic packaging materials allegedly used for drug distribution.
The two suspects were brought before the public prosecutor, while investigations remain ongoing to locate the third alleged member of the network.
