Two Workers Injured After Fall Into Treatment Tank

Emergency crews rescued the men from an empty wastewater treatment reservoir, with both hospitalized for leg injuries and reported to be out of danger

Two workers were injured on Thursday after falling into an empty wastewater treatment tank during maintenance work in northern Greece, prompting a rescue operation involving firefighters and emergency medical teams.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. when the two men, who were carrying out work at a biological treatment facility, fell into the interior of the reservoir.

Firefighters responded to the scene and successfully rescued both workers from the tank. The injured men, a 60-year-old Greek national and a 64-year-old Albanian national, were immediately transferred to waiting ambulances for medical treatment.

According to the Fire Service, both men sustained injuries to their lower limbs and were taken to a local hospital for further care.

Reports indicate that the workers are now out of danger.

The rescue operation involved eight firefighters and three emergency vehicles, who worked to extricate the men and secure the area.
