The brother of a Polish professor murdered in Agia Paraskevi has publicly accused the victim’s 43-year-old ex-wife of being the mastermind behind the killing, in a statement shared one day after the pre-trial detention of all five suspects.

Lukasz Jeziorski, brother of the victim Przemek Jeziorski, expressed his family’s deep gratitude to the Hellenic Police for swiftly solving what he described as a premeditated and organized crime. Writing on Facebook, he rejected the suspects’ claims that their actions were motivated by concerns over the safety of the professor’s children.

“He was a devoted father, never a threat”

In his post, Lukasz emphasized that his brother was a deeply committed father who loved his children unconditionally. He dismissed the defendants’ statements about child safety as “manipulative justifications and false claims,” stressing that Przemek was a respected academic and a peaceful family man.

“My brother was a devoted father, son, and sibling, as well as a highly regarded professor who touched the lives of countless students. His loss leaves a deep wound in our hearts,” Lukasz wrote.

The family finds solace in knowing the suspects are now being held accountable and praised the Greek judicial system for functioning effectively. “Nothing can bring him back, but the fact that those responsible will face justice offers some relief,” the statement read.

Focus shifts to the children’s wellbeing

Lukasz underlined that the family’s priority now is the wellbeing and future of Przemek’s children. He affirmed that both he and the children’s grandmother are fully committed to ensuring the children are surrounded by love and stability.

“We are continuing to work closely with the U.S. and Polish consulates in Athens, along with our legal representatives, to safeguard the children’s interests,” he said. While the family appreciates the international attention the case has received, he stressed that it must not come at the expense of the children’s privacy and welfare.

The post ends with a call for support and includes a link for financial assistance for the children.

Greek authorities have placed the professor’s ex-wife and four other individuals in pre-trial detention in connection with the murder.
