Volunteers Search for Missing Greek Doctor in Crete

Rescue teams with drones, dogs, and thermal cameras comb the Apokoronas region for 33-year-old Dr. Alexis Tsikopoulos, missing since early December.

Volunteers have launched a new search for 33-year-old Greek doctor Alexis Tsikopoulos, who has been missing since December 7 in the Apokoronas area of Chania, Crete. His car was found shortly after his disappearance near the village of Fres, prompting rescue teams to focus on the surrounding region.

A team from the “Friends of Hunters of the Thermaikos Coast” (OFKATH) arrived in Crete yesterday, equipped with flashlights, thermal cameras, drones, and specially trained search dogs. Despite limited chances of locating the doctor alive, the volunteers are determined to leave no stone unturned in their search.

The operation today targets abandoned houses, wells, and even swimming pools in the area, with volunteers working alongside local authorities, including the Chania Security Office, Apokoronas Police Station, as well as hunters and wildlife wardens from the Crete-Dodecanese Hunting Federation. Additional support comes from “Silver Alert Hellas” and the NGO Kyon OSFRISIS, which has contributed three trained search dogs.
