A serious incident took place yesterday afternoon in Voula, when an 18-year-old was reportedly attacked by a Pakistani national inside a tram, at the terminal stop in the area.

According to reports, the incident happened around 5:55 p.m., when tension broke out between the 18-year-old and the man for reasons that remain unclear.

Injured In The Leg

During the incident, the man reportedly attacked the young man with a broken glass bottle, injuring him.

The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he received the necessary medical care.

The alleged attacker managed to flee the scene and is being sought by police. His identity has not yet been released, and authorities are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the attack.

Scenes Of Panic

In a statement, the STASY Workers’ and Drivers’ Union said the man was in a state of frenzy and was holding a knife rather than a bottle. According to the statement, after stabbing one person three times, he began chasing after other people who were with the victim, and also moved threateningly toward the tram driver.

The statement reads: “Our union condemns in the strongest possible terms the nightmarish incident of blind violence that took place yesterday, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the ‘Asklipieio Voulas’ tram terminal. The lack of adequate security measures turned a public transit vehicle into a scene of terror, putting the driver and passengers in immediate danger.

Specifically, while the train was stopped at the Voula terminal, a man in a state of frenzy attacked with a knife and stabbed a passenger three times inside the car, which was left covered in blood, before he began chasing other people who were with the victim. Immediately afterward, the attacker moved threateningly toward a fellow driver of the tram, who found himself facing an immediate threat to his life.

As a union, we stress that the situation on the network has spiraled out of control. The physical safety of drivers and passengers is non-negotiable, and protecting it is a fundamental obligation. We are saying this clearly, sounding the alarm, so that next time we are not mourning victims because of a lack of protective measures.”
