Authorities in Trikala, Greece, are investigating the death of a 54-year-old woman, who was allegedly killed by her 18-year-old son. According to the official autopsy report, the woman died from strangulation, after a towel was reportedly wrapped tightly around her neck and pressed for several minutes.

Forensic experts noted blood in the eyes and ears, indicating the intensity of the pressure applied and suggesting that excessive force was used until death occurred. The time of death was determined to be just minutes before the teenager reportedly called the police to confess the act.

Teen Cites Family Pressure and Bullying

During his first police statement, the teenager said he felt overwhelmed by family circumstances and claimed he had been bullied by peers. He also alleged that his mother subjected him to physical and psychological abuse, ignored him, and had multiple romantic partners.

Authorities have scheduled his pretrial hearing for October 24, 2025, where he is expected to formally respond to the charges.

Legal Representation Stresses Privacy

Lawyers representing the 18-year-old emphasized the need to protect his personal privacy amid the family tragedy. They stated that no official confession has been given publicly, and cautioned against misleading media reports claiming otherwise.

“The primary duty of legal defense is to safeguard the fragile circumstances of a minor involved in a real family tragedy, with two victims, until the facts and science clarify the situation,” the statement read.
