A 70-year-old woman lost her life following a road accident on Tuesday morning on the Thessaloniki–Athens national highway near the Malgara toll booths.
According to reports, a passenger car collided with a truck in the lanes heading toward Thessaloniki. Emergency medical crews arrived at the scene and transported the woman and her 70-year-old husband, who were both in the vehicle, to Papageorgiou Hospital.
The woman was admitted in critical condition and was intubated before being transferred to the intensive care unit. Despite doctors’ efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Her husband is reported to be in good condition, having sustained only minor injuries. He remains under medical observation and is undergoing routine examinations.
The crash also caused significant traffic congestion in the area as authorities responded to the incident and managed the flow of vehicles.
