A 27-year-old woman is in critical condition after falling twice from a fourth-floor balcony in a residential building in Marousi, in a case that has sparked a complex police investigation.
Authorities have arrested her 29-year-old husband on charges related to domestic violence, while examining multiple scenarios surrounding the incident.
Two falls within minutes
According to initial reports, the woman, of Ukrainian origin, first fell from the balcony of the apartment she shared with her husband. The fall was partially broken when she landed on a lower balcony on the third floor, reportedly cushioned by an awning.
Despite the shock, she managed to return to her apartment.
Shortly afterward, she went out again—this time to the rear balcony—and fell a second time, landing on the ground level. The second fall resulted in severe injuries.
Critical condition in hospital
The woman was rushed to hospital, where she remains in critical condition and has undergone surgery.
Her husband, a 29-year-old of Russian origin who was present in the apartment at the time, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. Reports indicate he had called for a private ambulance after the first fall, before the second incident occurred.
Investigation ongoing
Police are treating the case as highly complex, with several key questions still unanswered. Investigators are examining all possible scenarios, including attempted suicide as well as potential criminal involvement.
A 65-year-old resident, on whose balcony the woman first landed, was also brought in for questioning.
