A 59-year-old woman was found dead inside her apartment in Thessaloniki, prompting a major police investigation into the circumstances of her death, with early indications pointing to possible foul play.

Authorities discovered the woman’s body at her home in the Evosmos area after a friend alerted police, concerned that she had been unable to reach her. Officers entered the apartment and found the woman unresponsive.

Suspicious circumstances under investigation

The condition in which the victim was found has raised serious questions. According to initial reports, the woman was partially unclothed and had a belt tied around her neck—an element investigators consider critical in determining the cause of death.

Police are closely examining how the belt was positioned, as this detail may help clarify whether the case involves criminal activity or another cause.
