The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) has recalled a batch of 2% strained yogurt from the market.
According to the regional directorate of Peloponnese, a sample was taken as part of the program “Official Control for Monitoring Levels of Food Additives and Flavoring Substances in Food.” The sample concerned a product labeled “STRAINED YOGURT – 2%,” with a “best before” date of 01/01/26 and a net weight of 200g. The yogurt is produced and packaged in Greece by MANDREKAS S.A., located at the 80th km of the Athens–Corinth National Road.
Testing by the Piraeus First Department of the Chemical Service, under the State General Laboratory of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), found that the product contained natamycin—an additive used to inhibit the growth of mold and yeasts on the surface of foods that is not permitted for this specific food category.
EFET has ordered the immediate recall of the entire batch, and inspections are currently underway.
Consumers who have purchased the product are advised not to refrain from consuming it.
