Following his recovery, he returned to Maritsa, where his classmates prepared a heartfelt reception, holding banners that read “We Missed You” and “We Love You.”
His mother, speaking to local outlet lindosnews.gr, expressed her gratitude to everyone who stood by the family throughout the ordeal.
“First of all, I want to thank doctor Angeliki Karagianni in Paradisi. She was the first person to understand the problem and guide us on what we needed to do next. I also want to thank the doctors and nurses in the oncology unit at the children’s hospital, as well as Mr. Manolis Papasavvas from Rhodes, who serves as administrator at the hospital,” she said.
“A huge thank you also goes to all the people from our village who stood beside us during these difficult moments. We fought for about a year and we made it. I wish for all children to recover, to leave the hospitals behind, and to continue their lives with their families.”
The story of young Nikolas deeply moved the people of Rhodes, spreading a message of hope and strength for every child fighting their own battle against illness.
