Greece edged Spain 90–86 in a thrilling battle, sealing top spot in the Group and paving a smooth path toward EuroBasket 2025. From Limassol to Riga, the Greek national team now carries momentum and confidence, while Spain—once the standard-bearer of European basketball—bows out after three years on the throne.

Sergio Scariolo’s defensive plan backfired badly. Collapsing on Giannis Antetokounmpo left the perimeter wide open, and Greece punished it with ruthless shooting—4-of-4 from deep to start, and 8-of-10 soon after—racing ahead 24–14, then 36–23.

Spain clawed back two-thirds of the deficit, but for most of the night it was a losing chase. The return of Tyler Dorsey and the proper spacing around the “Greek Freak” quickly restored order. By halftime Greece led 50–35, but managing that +15 advantage proved tricky. Spain found rhythm, built confidence, and even surged ahead, 73–72 and later 84–82 with just 2:30 remaining.

That’s when Antetokounmpo imposed his will. With 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists, he carried Greece through the pressure and ensured they closed out a game they simply couldn’t afford to lose. The win secures first place ahead of Italy, setting up a far less daunting knockout path.
