Millions of fans poured into the streets to celebrate Spain’s second World Cup title. Long before kickoff, thousands had gathered in public squares to watch the final on giant screens set up in cities across the country. As soon as the referee blew the final whistle, jubilant supporters flooded the streets, turning town and city centers into all-night celebrations.

Despite the intense summer heat, huge crowds remained outdoors well into the early morning, singing, dancing, and celebrating one of the greatest moments in Spanish football history.

The festivities, however, are far from over. Spain’s national team is set to mark its second World Cup triumph with an official victory celebration through the streets of Madrid.

The Spanish squad is expected to arrive in the capital late on Monday afternoon before heading to the Royal Palace, where an official reception is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. local time.

Following the ceremony, the team bus will parade through Madrid’s main avenues, giving supporters the opportunity to celebrate alongside their world champions.

The festivities will also bring together generations of Spanish football history. Alongside head coach Luis de la Fuente and his players, several members of Spain’s legendary 2010 World Cup-winning squad are expected to take part.

Former goalkeeper Pepe Reina will serve as the event’s host, while Carles Puyol, Joan Capdevila, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Xabi Alonso, David Villa, Fernando Torres, Cesc Fàbregas, and 2010 final hero Andrés Iniesta are all expected to join the celebrations.
