The President of UEFA, Aleksander Ceferin, conveyed his sincere condolences to the President of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), Makis Gagatsis, and to PAOK FC over the tragic death of seven fans.
This took place during a communication with the Federation’s president, following the traffic accident in Romania that claimed the lives of seven PAOK supporters.
At the same time, the Hellenic Football Federation continues to receive condolence messages from European football associations, with the Cyprus Football Association and its president, Haris Loizidis, being the first to do so.
By decision of the Executive Committee, a one-minute silence will be observed in memory of the victims at all matches under the Federation’s organizational responsibility this coming weekend, including regional championships across the country.
Prior to the start of the Executive Committee meeting, a one-minute silence was also observed, while flags at the EPO’s facilities are flying at half-mast.
The governing body of European football had previously rejected a request by PAOK FC for the postponement of the Europa League clash against Olympique Lyonnais.
