Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of Britain’s King Charles, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the BBC reports.
The Daily Telegraph reported that British police arrived at Mountbatten-Windsor’s residence at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in eastern England on Thursday. Observers saw six unmarked police cars and around eight plain-clothed officers at the property.
The arrest follows allegations contained in recently released U.S. government files suggesting that Mountbatten-Windsor may have passed confidential government documents to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mountbatten-Windsor has previously denied any wrongdoing and expressed regret over his friendship with Epstein, though he has not responded to specific questions regarding the new documents.
Thames Valley Police, who are leading the investigation, had no immediate comment on the police activity at the Sandringham estate, as reported in Reuters.
