Israel will accept the latest U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the families of the hostages.

The proposal, presented by Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, appears to have received Netanyahu’s approval, according to local media reports.

Meanwhile, Hamas has acknowledged receiving the new ceasefire proposal and is reviewing it. However, the group is reportedly dissatisfied with the terms, particularly because the deal allows Israel the option to resume hostilities after the temporary ceasefire expires.

The White House has expressed optimism about Witkoff’s plan, viewing it as a potential step toward bridging the divide between Israel and Hamas. The agreement could pave the way for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

“If each side is willing to move even slightly toward a truce, we could have a deal within days,” a U.S. source told Axios.
