Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will meet on Monday in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss ways to end the war.

In a post on Telegram and also on X, he wrote that he is “grateful for the invitation.”

Specifically, the Ukrainian president emphasized: “Ukraine confirms its readiness to work with all its strength for the achievement of peace. President Trump informed me about his meeting with the Russian leader and about the key points of their discussion. It is important that America’s power has an impact on the development of the situation.”

He underlined that the upcoming meeting in Washington will focus on seeking solutions to end the war and the ongoing attacks. “On Monday I will meet with President Trump in Washington to discuss all the details regarding the end of killings and the war. I am grateful for the invitation,” he said.

Zelensky’s announcement marks his first public reaction following the Trump–Putin meeting in Alaska.

After his phone call with Zelensky, Trump also spoke with NATO leaders.

The U.S. president contacted European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other European leaders by phone to brief them on his Alaska meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
