K-Gold Temporary Gallery invites the public to a unique evening of contemporary art this Friday, August 8, in Agia Paraskevi, Lesvos. The event will feature the first public presentation of Greek artist Ellada Damianou’s research on performative scenographies—a concept that treats scenography not as static decoration, but as action, process, and immersive experience.

Damianou, whose work is based between Greece and Belgium, operates across performance, costume, and scenic design. During her current residency at K-Gold Temporary Gallery, she is exploring the idea of scenography as a creative force in its own right—one that shapes both the structure of a performance and the emotional engagement of its audience.

On Lesvos, she is working with local materials and collaborating with island-based artisans to develop a “living” scenographic environment. These experiments will form the foundation of a larger project to be showcased later in selected European cities.

The artist, who currently collaborates with internationally acclaimed choreographers Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Radouan Mriziga, is supported by Flanders State of the Art.

The performance will take place on the rooftop of the gallery, followed by an open discussion with the artist—offering audiences a closer look into her creative process and methodology.

Ahead of the performance, visitors will be guided through the exhibitions Blue Moon and Re-Collection by curator Nicolas Vamvouklis.

Blue Moon: Exploring identities of public and private spaces

Blue Moon, a solo exhibition by Yorgos Maraziotis, explores themes of displacement, memory, and the meaning of home through sculptural installations and spatial interventions. The works draw on oral histories from former residents of the building—now home to the gallery—transforming their voices into a hybrid landscape of neon, marble, metal, and mirror. Architectural elements from the original structure are also reintegrated, blurring the line between past and present.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual (Greek/English) publication featuring a conversation between Maraziotis and Sam Steverlynck (curator, S.M.A.K. Ghent), with design by Marlon Tate.

With this multifaceted program, K-Gold Temporary Gallery continues to bring cutting-edge contemporary culture to Lesvos, building meaningful connections between local communities, international artists, and new artistic narratives.
