The social calendar of May is dizzying to say the least, but with Eurovision finals this weekend it gets a little easier to narrow down.
Here are a few activities to keep you occupied before and after the winner of this year’s contest is crowned.
Something to see: “ASTORIA” At Pallas Theatre
This Sunday, May 17th is your last chance to catch this phenomenal Greek play with English surtitles. Set in New York City this musical performance transports you to interwar New York, where a “little Greece” is born in a coffee shop in the heart of Astoria, Queens.
The 365 Project At Vorres Museum
It’s always a good day when I discover a new museum within city bounds I have yet to visit. Hidden somewhere in Paiania, you may struggle to get there by public transport but it seems to be a worthy trip. Once you’ve enjoyed the exhibited pieces to your liking, there is a beautiful café within the museum’s gardens to relax and enjoy a nice freddo espresso. “The 365 Project” is a program within Vorres, in which an artist is invited every two months to present a new work among the Museum Gallery’s existing artworks.
The piece currently exhibited was created by artist Michael Petry during a 3-week residency at Vorres Museum. Impressively, the artwork spans a whole 10 meters long and is 2 meters tall.
Something to do: Kerameiko Beat All-Day Dance Party At Kerameikos
Practice your best dance moves ahead of Eurovision this Saturday, May 16th in Mikis Theodorakis park! With DJ sets all day, a vinyl record fair and delicious street food brought to you by Tarantino Burgers.
Athens Tattoo Convention 2026 In Faliro
Even if you’re not a big fan of tattoos, you will find plenty to admire and do in what is one of the most anticipated conventions of the year. Personally, I don’t know of a single Athenian who doesn’t know of the Athens Tattoo Convention. Talented artists from all over the world gather in one space and bring with them artwork for your skin, your walls and your sticker collection!
If you’re looking to be extra impulsive this weekend, most tattoo artists have open slots throughout the convention days for flash tattoos.
Something to eat: The Burger Dudes In Vrilissia
Created by Greek comedian and known foodie Nikolas Raptis, Burger Dudes is reminiscent of a true American burger joint. You know how sometimes you have a burger and wake up the next day feeling ridiculously heavy? My experience with this place is far from that.
I love me a good cheeseburger, so I highly recommend their double cheese smashed burger. If you’re ravenously hungry, pair it with their chicken nuggets which also include kimchi and pickles.
Zuzuto Ramen In Kifissia
A couple friends recently reminded me of this place—which I used to live right next to, as they have another store near my family home.
Really good, authentic Japanese food at a fair price point. Highly beloved dish is the Black Garlic Ramen, paired with the vegetable chicken gyoza.
Something extra: Eurovision Karaoke At Hard Rock Cafe Athens
Tonight’s karaoke special in the heart of Monastiraki is a Eurovision lover’s perfect primer ahead of the final performances on Saturday.
Or perhaps it’s just a good opportunity to party!
