The new US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, made a striking first impression on Saturday evening during her first public appearance in Athens, attending a reception marking 250 years since the founding of the US Marine Corps.

Dressed in an elegant black gown, Guilfoyle greeted guests with a smile and approachable demeanor, quickly becoming the center of attention at the event, which took place at a central Athens hotel.

Among the distinguished attendees were Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, Shipping Minister Vassilis Kikilias, and Deputy Foreign Minister Haris Theoharis, highlighting the strong diplomatic and defense ties between Athens and Washington.

Warm welcome and first post in Greek

Later that evening, the new ambassador shared her first social media post, part of which was written in Greek, signaling both her enthusiasm for her new role and a gesture of respect toward her host country.

Settling into Jefferson House

At her official residence, Jefferson House, located in the heart of Athens, activity was brisk as staff worked to complete preparations following her arrival. Trucks delivered furniture and personal belongings, while neighbors expressed excitement about the new ambassador joining their community.

A lively social calendar before official duties

On Sunday evening, Guilfoyle attended a private reception in her honor at a well-known Athens venue, with invitations sent directly from the US Embassy.

Her first official diplomatic engagement is scheduled for Tuesday, when she will present her credentials to President Konstantinos Tasoulas at the Presidential Mansion, formally beginning her tenure as Washington’s top envoy to Greece.
