Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 19-year-old woman in the town of Argostoli on the Greek island of Kefalonia, while a third individual is still being sought by authorities.
The young woman was found in a central square in Argostoli in the early hours of Tuesday, 14 April, under circumstances that remain unclear.
According to initial reports, the two arrested individuals were with the 19-year-old shortly before she was discovered unconscious. Authorities are reportedly examining whether charges of neglect may apply, as it is believed they may have left the scene shortly before she was found.
One of the individuals taken into custody has previously been linked to drug-related cases, according to sources cited in the investigation.
The Incident
The young woman was discovered shortly after 4 a.m. and was immediately transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Although she still had a pulse upon arrival and doctors attempted to resuscitate her, she was later pronounced dead.
The exact cause of death is expected to be determined following a post-mortem examination and toxicology tests. According to medical staff who examined her, no visible signs of external injury were identified, leaving investigators without immediate indications of violent trauma.
However, security camera footage from the area is now a key focus of the investigation. The recordings reportedly show the woman being moved from a nearby apartment to a playground where she was later found, a detail that authorities are carefully reviewing as part of the ongoing inquiry.
