Students who secured first place in the 1st Pan-Hellenic and Pan-Cypriot Student Newspaper Competition organized by ALTER EGO MEDIA and established by the newspaper TO BHMA traveled to New York.
The prize for the competition winners was a unique educational trip to the city, featuring visits to key pillars of global media and finance: the offices of the Wall Street Journal, publishing partner of TO BHMA, the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, and the United Nations.
During their visit to Nasdaq, the students toured the facilities and learned about the history and operations of the stock exchange.

The highlight of the trip, however, came as an unexpected surprise in Times Square. On the facade of the Nasdaq building, at one of the most iconic locations on the planet, a welcome message and the students’ names were prominently displayed.

Seeing themselves on the world’s largest digital billboard was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the students, while also offering global exposure for the institution of student newspapers, Alter Ego Media, and TO BHMA.
The Student Newspaper Competition, established by TO BHMA, aims to cultivate skills in creative and journalistic writing, research and source verification, newspaper design, media literacy, and to encourage reading and literary engagement among young people.
