Μake us preferred on Google Changes to taxi fares for trips to and from the airports of Athens and Thessaloniki are expected in the coming days, significantly affecting the special rates applied to airport journeys.
According to sources at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the standard taxi rate, under both the single and double tariff, remains unchanged, as does the €4 minimum fare.
The upcoming changes mainly concern the special fares for trips to and from the airports.
At Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, the fixed fare for trips to and from the city center will increase. Under the single tariff, the fare will rise from €40 to €50, while under the double tariff it will increase from €55 to €65. In both cases, this represents a €10 increase per trip.
A similar increase is planned for trips to and from Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Airport. There, the single-tariff fare will rise from €25 to €28, while the double-tariff fare will increase from €35 to €38. In Thessaloniki, the increase will be €3 per trip.
The changes are the result of consultations and discussions with the Panhellenic Federation of Taxi Owners (POEIATA) and the Attica Taxi Drivers’ Union (SATA).
The increases come at a time when professional taxi drivers are facing significantly higher operating costs, mainly due to higher fuel prices.
For example, even a €5 increase in daily fuel costs can result in approximately €100 in additional expenses for a professional driver over the course of a month, without taking other operating costs into account.
The changes to taxi fares are expected to take effect after the relevant decision is published in the Government Gazette in the coming days.
