A 21-year-old British soldier remains in a medically induced coma in a Cretan hospital after a serious road accident on the Greek island of Rhodes, drawing widespread coverage from major British media outlets including the BBC, GB News, and Yahoo News.

The incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, April 15, when the young man lost control of a rented quad bike and collided with a utility pole on a road near his hotel. He was on holiday with his 20-year-old girlfriend of three years.

The woman told British media she was inside their hotel room when she heard what she described as a loud screeching of tires followed by a heavy impact. Unable to reach her boyfriend by phone — something she said was out of character — she went out into the darkened street to look for him. She found the quad bike overturned beside a large pole, with the young man lying motionless nearby, bleeding from wounds to his head and nose.

Finding him unresponsive and struggling to breathe, she placed him in the recovery position and called emergency services. Paramedics arrived within ten minutes, she said, though she was not permitted to accompany him in the ambulance and had to take a taxi to reach the hospital.
