A 35-year-old Welsh tourist was seriously injured but successfully rescued after falling onto rocks along the coast of Canal d’Amour in Sidari, Corfu, around midday on Sunday.

The man, who was on holiday with his wife and two children, reportedly fell from a height into the sea, hitting the rocky shoreline below. According to eyewitness accounts from fellow tourists, the situation nearly turned fatal as the man came close to drowning.

His life was likely saved thanks to the swift reaction of nearby swimmers with an inflatable raft that managing to reach him and transport him to a safer spot on the rocks, away from the water.

Emergency services arrived within minutes and transported the man through the rocky terrain to the ambulance, which rushed him to the hospital.
