A child was seriously injured in Veria, a city in the Imathia regional unit of Central Macedonia, after being struck by a piece of agricultural machinery inside the yard of a private home, according to initial reports.
The circumstances of the accident remain unclear. Early accounts indicate that the operator of the machine was reversing at the time and struck the child, causing alarm. The incident took place on the grounds of the residence where the child was present.
The child was first taken to Veria General Hospital, where medical staff administered emergency treatment. Given the severity of the injuries, doctors determined that transfer to a higher level facility was necessary, and the child was subsequently moved to Ippokrateio General Hospital in Thessaloniki, one of the largest hospitals in northern Greece.
