A mother of two young children, ages 8 and 11, has filed serious allegations over what’s being called an unprecedented incident in a village in the Municipality of Heraklion.

According to cretalive.gr, a 58-year-old man who rents a house from the family, reportedly irritated by the children’s noise, is accused of entering the home while the mother was away and attacking the younger child. He is accused of striking the boy in the face and attempting to suffocate him with a pillow.

The local outlet reports that, while the initial case file covered charges of bodily harm and disturbing the peace, the man has since been prosecuted on a charge of attempted homicide against the 8-year-old. The suspect, who was arrested, is due to appear before authorities on Friday.
