A serious incident was reported Friday night at Volos Hospital, where the daughter of an elderly patient with heart problems reported that she was attacked by a doctor in the emergency department.

According to the complaint, the elderly woman and her daughter arrived at the emergency department. After waiting for hours, they eventually located the cardiologist, whom the daughter claims appeared indifferent to the situation.

Tensions reportedly escalated when the woman asked the doctor for his name. According to her account, he became enraged and attacked her.

“He gets up, pushes my elderly mother, who was between us, and grabs me by the neck. He punches me. In the head. Punches to the face. In the arms. He was hitting me violently,” the woman said.

“I am terrified by the violence I experienced. No one stepped in to help me. The rest of the staff simply watched,” she added.

Hospital officials and a psychiatrist arrived at the scene in an effort to calm the situation, while police were also called.

The woman further stated that she requested a forensic doctor to document her injuries but was refused and told to go to Larissa.

“I asked them to call an ambulance to take me there, and they told me to go by myself. They did not even bandage my injured hand so that the incident would not be documented,” she said.

The hospital administration has ordered an official internal administrative investigation into the incident.

However, hospital sources dispute the woman’s account, saying that there was no beating and describing the incident as a confrontation involving heightened tensions.
