A fire broke out in an apartment in the suburb of Argyroupoli on Saturday afternoon, resulting in a 70-year-old woman being rescued unconscious from the scene.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze began around 15:15 in a third-floor apartment on Hippokratous Street. During firefighting efforts, the elderly woman was discovered unresponsive and suffering from burns.
Nine firefighters and three fire engines were deployed to the scene to battle the flames and assist with the rescue operation.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the cause of the fire or the woman’s current condition. An investigation is expected to follow.
Argyroupoli is a residential area in the southern part of Athens.
