Explosion at Recycling Plant in Corinth Injures Two

Authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the blast as fire crews searched the facility for possible additional victims

A powerful explosion struck a recycling plant in the city of Corinth late Friday, injuring two people and triggering a large-scale emergency response, authorities announced.

The blast occurred during work operations inside the facility under circumstances that remained unclear, according to initial reports. The two injured workers were transported to a nearby hospital in Corinth – west of Athens – for medical evaluation and treatment, while hospital authorities placed the facility on heightened alert in case additional casualties emerge.

First responders were deployed to the site to contain potential risks and secure the surrounding area as crews assessed the extent of the damage. Authorities were also conducting searches inside the plant to determine whether any additional workers had been injured or trapped following the explosion.

Industrial and workplace accidents have drawn renewed scrutiny over recent months following a series of fatal and serious incidents, including fires, explosions and construction-site accidents.
