The incident occurred near a gas station on the provincial road toward the Vari settlement. Firefighters from the island’s fire brigade coordinated the rescue operation.
According to reports, deputy commander Iakovos Tzortzis descended into the well, which was partially filled with water, alone to reach the man and assist in his extraction, according to local media reports.
The 52-year-old was brought to the surface conscious, while the circumstances under which he fell into the well remain under investigation.
Similar incidents have been reported elsewhere in Greece over the past year.
