Images showing damaged vehicles and stolen car parts from a Fire Service parking area in Magoula have sparked outrage, after firefighters reported that their vehicles were targeted while they were responding to wildfires in Attica and Boeotia.
According to complaints from firefighters, a group of individuals took advantage of the absence of personnel and entered the Fire Service parking area, causing damage to vehicles and removing car parts.
The suspects damaged firefighters’ vehicles before stealing wheels and leaving the scene.
The incident was also highlighted in a social media post by the “Volunteer Firefighters” group, which expressed anger over the attack against people who were at the time on the front lines fighting the wildfires.
“While firefighters were battling the flames to protect lives and property, some people took advantage of their absence to steal wheels and cause damage to their cars in Magoula,” the group said in its post.
“At a time of self-sacrifice, some chose the path of shame. Let society draw its own conclusions. Who will ultimately protect us?” it added.
The incident is under investigation, while no further information has so far been released regarding the identity of the individuals responsible.
