Fugitive’s Threats to Wife Emerge After Police Shooting

Authorities say the 42-year-old suspect had warned his wife he was returning to Greece and threatened to kill her, while investigators continue examining weapons found in his possession

New details have emerged about a 42-year-old fugitive who was seriously injured during a police operation in the coastal area of Mikrolimano after allegedly threatening officers during an attempted arrest.

According to reports, the man — known by the nickname “Titi” and described by authorities as highly dangerous — had escaped from prison in Albania and was seeking a way to return to Greece. Investigators believe he also intended to regain custody of his children from his wife.

Authorities were reportedly alerted after the woman informed police about his plans to return to the country. According to media reports, she had received two threatening messages from him, including one that stated: “I am coming to Greece to kill you and blow you up.”

Weapons Under Investigation

The suspect was found in possession of weapons and grenades, which are now being examined by investigators.

Video footage reviewed by authorities reportedly shows that the man was not alone at the Mikrolimano establishment where he was located. Two women who were with him were taken in for questioning, while another man who has been identified remains wanted as investigators seek to determine whether he had links to the suspect.

Officers Describe Confrontation

Police officers involved in the operation provided detailed accounts of the confrontation, describing it as sudden and life-threatening.

According to their statements, officers were following the suspect on foot when he unexpectedly turned toward them and raised a firearm. Officers said they dropped to the ground for cover, while colleagues positioned across the street opened fire after seeing the suspect allegedly point his weapon at police.

One officer stated that the suspect appeared to aim directly at them, forcing an immediate response.

Long Criminal Record

Authorities say the 42-year-old had a lengthy criminal history dating back to his youth. His first arrest reportedly occurred at the age of 12, followed by later arrests for robbery and drug-related offenses.

Investigators also link him to a fatal car theft case in 2012, while he was arrested in France in 2015 under a European arrest warrant issued by Greece. In 2019, he was involved in a high-profile prison transport escape.

Police records indicate that he had previously threatened victims with grenades during robberies and violent attacks. The suspect remains hospitalized in serious condition under constant police guard as the investigation
