Car registrations in Greece picked up pace in the first seven months of the year, with 170,312 entering circulation, up by 4.5% from 162,902 a year ago, according to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Service (ELSTAT).

In July, 24,024 cars entered circulation, down by 3.9% from 25,000 in the same month of 2025. The number of new cars registered in July fell 8.6% year-on-year to 13,484, from 14,754 a year earlier.

Despite the July decline, the overall number of cars increased in the January-July period with the number of new vehicles on the road reaching 103,599 over 98,871 in the same period a year ago marking a 4.8% rise.

Motorcycle registrations also continued to grow. First-time circulation of motorcycles over 50cc, both new and used, rose by 3.4% in the first seven months of 2026 to 57,633 up from 55,754 a year earlier. New motorcycles accounted for 55,057 registrations during the January-July period, up by 3.2% from 53,339 in the same period in 2025.

In July alone, registrations of motorcycles over 50cc increased by 5.0% year-on-year to 11,240, from 10,705 in July 2025. New motorcycle registrations were up 5.4% to 10,830, compared with 10,278 a year earlier.
