Strong northerly winds and widespread rainfall are set to dominate the weather across Greece on Sunday, May 3, 2026, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service.

In the Aegean, winds are expected to reach up to 8 Beaufort locally, intensifying further in the southeastern regions by evening, where gusts may peak at 9 Beaufort.

Cloud cover will be extensive across eastern mainland areas and the Aegean, bringing localized showers and thunderstorms, particularly over coastal and maritime zones.

Elsewhere in the country, conditions will begin relatively mild, with scattered clouds gradually thickening through the day and giving rise to isolated showers or storms inland during the afternoon hours.

By evening, weather conditions are expected to improve across most mainland regions. However, light snowfall is forecast in mountainous areas. Winds in the west will blow from the north at 3 to 5 Beaufort, reaching up to 6 in the Ionian Sea, while eastern regions will experience stronger winds of 7 to 8 Beaufort, and up to 9 in the southeast. Temperatures will dip slightly in the southeastern Aegean, ranging between 15°C and 17°C, while western areas may see highs of 19°C to 20°C.

In Attica, cloudy skies with intermittent rain are expected, easing later in the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 9°C to 16°C. Thessaloniki will see unsettled conditions through midday, including showers and isolated thunderstorms, followed by gradual improvement.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring lingering clouds and local showers, mainly over island regions, while the rest of the country enjoys clearer skies. Temperatures will rise, reaching up to 22°C inland. Fair weather will prevail through midweek, with gradually increasing temperatures and weakening winds, marking a return to more stable spring conditions.
