Greece has extended the deadline for property owners to complete plot cleaning works until June 22, Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Evangelos Tournas announced.
Speaking to Greek public broadcaster ERT, Tournas said the decision followed an assessment by the Risk Evaluation Committee, which reviewed recent weather conditions and meteorological data before recommending a short extension.
The minister said that 373,000 plot cleanings had already been declared through the relevant digital platform by Thursday evening, showing significant participation in the process.
Authorities are urging citizens and responsible bodies to speed up the remaining work, as weather conditions expected in the coming days are forecast to become more challenging.
Tournas stressed that clearing private properties is both an obligation and a responsibility of property owners, emphasizing that the process must be completed on time.
