Μake us preferred on Google A 49-year-old secondary school teacher in Patras, Greece, was arrested after an 18-year-old woman, now a university student, reported that she had a relationship with him from the age of 14 to 17.
The teacher is expected to appear before a prosecutor in Patras on Thursday following his arrest.
According to the woman’s complaint to police, the 49-year-old was not only her teacher at school but also gave her private lessons at her home.
Allegations of sexual images
The woman also accuses that, while she was a minor, the teacher encouraged her to send him nude photographs and videos of herself.
Police reportedly found the material on the teacher’s cellphone. As a result, he also faces a charge related to child sexual abuse material.
The teacher is being held at the Patras Police Headquarters and is expected to appear before a prosecutor at noon Thursday to face the charges provided for under Greek law.
What the teacher told police
During questioning, the teacher reportedly did not deny that he had a relationship with the young woman.
He told police that he was in love with her and that this was why he entered into the relationship.
The case has now been placed in the hands of the Greek justice system, which will investigate the allegations and the circumstances in which the relationship allegedly took place.
