Two domestic violence cases are going before the courts in Thessaloniki today, following complaints from former partners and spouses.
According to ERT, a 48-year-old police officer was brought before Thessaloniki’s single-member misdemeanor court in a same-day proceeding, facing charges of domestic threat and disturbing domestic peace after a complaint from his 51-year-old former partner. The woman, who has mobility issues and uses a wheelchair, alleged that the officer broke into her home and threatened her.
While giving her statement to police, the 51-year-old made further allegations, saying that in the recent past the officer had forced her into sexual acts and had hit her. A separate case file is being compiled on these allegations at the prosecutor’s request.
Separately, a 44-year-old man was brought before the prosecutor after being arrested following a complaint from his 35-year-old estranged wife. She alleged that he used force to compel her into sexual acts and struck her in the face.
The 44-year-old was arrested and brought before the prosecutor’s office.
